News update November 2016

All, A quick update to let you all know what's been going on and what's coming up. A group carried out a planned works day at the courts a few weeks ago. Largely this was to try and resolve the water ingress that's been affecting courts 1 and 2. An 8 ton skip was filled with waste that was cleared from around the building. Remedial works were carried out to the lighting, new led lights were fitted in the corridor and new advertising boards were put up. Mrs Wightman made a fantastic picnic lunch for all. There was a great team spirit and everyone felt they had made a great contribution to the section for the benefit of all. We have more work to do however! The next date planned is 10am-3pm on Saturday 19th November. The planned works for the day are: Dismantle old light fittings for disposal. Remove scrap metal from around the building for collection by recycling merchant. Further clearing works around the building. If anyone has a professional strimer it would be ideal if you could bring it along or loan it to us for the day. Esp if you have a cutting blade attachment. We will also have a mini digger on site. This is to lower the ground level around the courts 1 & 2. Alan Murphy will be operating it, but we'll need people to barrow the soil to the skip. There will be jobs for all ages and abilities. If you are able to help on the day, even if just for an hour, can you please contact Damien. If you can bring any gardening tools, spades, wheelbarrows, wood saws etc so much the better. Friday 18th November, a bistro night in the lounge at the club. Menu and bookings available on the notice board in the club house. Saturday 19th November 10am-3pm maintenance day, see above. Friday 25th November 8pm, Fun Intersection Quiz. Each sport section will be fielding a team of 4. Host for the evening is our own Paul Salt (Salty from Radio Merseyside). It ran 2 years ago and everyone had a great night. We are looking for lots to turn up and support the event. Free entrance and a good laugh guaranteed. Saturday 3rd December. Section Christmas social. Trip to Manchester to watch the British Squash Grand Prix Quarter Final, followed by drinks and food around Crosby & Waterloo in the evening. Everyone is welcome to join us for the evening for drinks and or food. Hope to see as many of you as possible supporting the above events, especially the maintenance day!
